I get so bugged when I hear people in fashion say, “Navy is the new black” or “Grey is the new black.”  However, we have seen one color all over fall’s Fashion runway: Burgundy. This color has many names, so take your pick: oxblood (a little gory, yes?); I much prefer these others… spiced wine, sangria, bordeaux, merlot (not sure it’s a coincidence that the rest of these are alcoholic beverages)…but, guess what girlies, this season’s trendiest hue, well, dare we say it: “Burgundy is the new black.”  There we said it (Please forgive us!).  You’ll see it EVERYWHERE this fall…clothes, shoes, bags, lipstick and nail polish. This color is deep and rich and beautiful for fall. Here’s a little preview.

To start, how about a little inspiration…

Now that you’re hopefully feeling inspired, let’s translate this to an everyday look. Nobody’s doing burgundy better this year than our fave J. Crew.  Take a look…

1. 3″ Chino Short in Spiced Wine. This color looks amazing with the neon pink and oh-so-love the leopard belt with this.
2. Icon-Trench in Wool Cashmere in Cabernet. Perfect to throw on all fall and winter long so that you look effortlessly pulled together.
3. Minnie Pant in Bi-Strecth Wool in Cabernet. This pant has a bit of a stretch to it, so it is very flattering! Check out the Chambray shirt with this color.

We showed how amazing burgundy looks with all shades of pink, but you can wear it with black, gray, navy, red, camel, leopard/animal print, denim/chambray…basically almost anything!  And don’t be scared to wear head-to-toe burgundy.

In one of our recent Go to Girls’ pow-wows, we were talking about our fave new makeup finds. Mind you, we had this make up discussion only after we had a lengthy debate on the race for the Republican nominee for President. We do not discuss purely superficial things such as make up & fashion, etc. We are complex girls. With that duly noted, we wanted to share a few of our make up finds. All of these are great, as the weather turns warmer, and you have to get in and out of your car 18 times a day, and it’s getting hotter, and, well, you get the picture. No one likes to feel make up running down their face. I love a foundation that is light and sheer, and SPF protection is always a plus.

Love Giorgio Armani’s Face Fabric for lots of reasons: Perfect for spring/summer. SPF 12.  Light and clean feel. Sheer, so it doesn’t make you look like you are wearing any foundation at all. No need to use a brush. You can use your fingers, and it goes on like silk. Evens out your skin tone. Comes in 6 shades. $49. Available at Nordstrom with free shipping.

If you’re looking for a higher SPF, a friend turned us on to Revision Intellishade Tinted Moisturizer.  What’s to love about this? SPF of 45.  It’s acts as a 3 in 1: moisturizer, sunscreen, and skin tone color corrector.  Even though it has a high SPF, it’s not at all greasy and goes on very smoothly.  Will match your skin color perfectly.  When you wear it, you don’t even feel like you’re wearing make up.  $45.  Available at Amazon.com.

Lastly, for the eyes. Started using Bobbi’s Brown’s Long-Wear Cream Shadow recently. So easy to apply. I just swipe it on with my fingers in literally 5 seconds. Stays on all day (even after 2 hours of being hot and sweaty at a Little League game). Comes in 17 colors. I love “Ballet Pink” for a natural everyday look. $24 at Neiman’s.

Can someone please explain why is it that when you walk into Super Target with 8 things on your grocery list, you come out with 14 bags, having spent $194?  The only other store where I experience this same phenomenon is ULTA Beauty.  I walk in to buy ONE new lip gloss, and somehow come out with 14 new beauty products that I never even knew I always needed.  Based on my extensive Ulta research (that is how I justify these purchases), I had to share a few of my ULTA-mate faves.  Please don’t blame me if you come out there with a bagful of products, because I am only sanctioning these four…

I’m sure you’ve heard of the Clarisonic Electric Face Brush, $200. Well, this Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleaning System is a super duper alternative to the Clarisonic, with a super duper price, $29.99. This electronic brush is gentle and will clean your face like you wouldn’t believe.

Revlon’s Colorburst Lip Butter is the best drugstore lipstick you can buy. It comes in 20 different colors and is only $7.50 (which is the perfect excuse to buy more than one tube). Colorburst Lip Butter is more sheer than a true lipstick (which makes it look more natural), so it’s great for day or night. Also, it’s very moisturizing. If you’re looking for that “perfect” red, try Candy Apple.  You can also find these at Walgreens and CVS.

If you’re in the market for a new hair dryer, you’ll quickly find that most high-end dryers cost well over $100. But not the One ‘N Only Argan Heat Dryer, $59.95. For the price, this is the best dryer that you will find.  Fancy scientific lingo:  It has an Argan Ceramic infused grille with a true ionic generator.  Translation: Leaves hair shiny and smooth = No frizziness!  Read more details here.

And lastly, the ULTA Getaway Glamour 58 pc. Collection. I actually received this kit as gift a couple of months ago and have loved it. Only $14.99 for 38 eyeshadows, 8 lip colors, 5 brushes and applicators, 2 eyeliner pencils, 2 bronzers, 1 cheek color, Pressed Powder, Lip Gloss and a travel case with mirror (They say it’s a $175 value). I have loved playing with all the different colors depending on what I’m wearing, where I’m going and my mood. It’s just plain fun!
